Concert 1: A Million Nightingales

The voices of Corvus Consort take to the skies for a bird’s-eye view of choral music, with a special guest appearance from the WAF Children’s Choir.

Corvus Consort presents musical depictions of nightingales, skylarks, swallows and ravens, as well as an owl and a very famous “blue bird”. Works by 20th-century English masters Stanford and Finzi sit alongside music by contemporary composers Becky McGlade, Caroline Shaw and Toby Young, as well as traditional folk song arrangements.

Corvus Consort will also perform the remarkable Sol by our Composer-in-Residence Ben Nobuto, an ingenious work for which Ben was awarded the prize for Best Choral Composition at the Ivors Academy Awards 2023.
